Pinewood Lake Porpoises Swim Team
The Pinewood Lake Porpoises Swim Team is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) youth summer swim team. We seek to empower the children of our diverse community to learn and enjoy the lifelong sport of swimming, including all of the health and emotional benefits that come from participating in team sports. We strive to help our team members learn the values of hard work, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and leadership as they grow in confidence and ability. We operate from the perspective that swimming should be accessible to all, regardless of race, income, or ability. Our Vision: The Pinewood Lake Porpoises Swim Team will play a key role in helping each of our swimmers to discover the joy of competitive swimming and to foster the development of personal qualities that will help them be successful throughout their lives.
The Pinewood Lake Swim Team is a member of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL). Our athletes are comprised of children between the ages of 4 and 18 years. Our season begins on Memorial Day weekend and lasts for nine weeks, which includes 3 weeks of conditioning overlapped with 6 weeks of competitions against the 5 other teams in our division of the NVSL. We end each season with an awards banquet to celebrate our accomplishments!
The Pinewood Lake Porpoises compete in Division 17 of the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL). We are located in Alexandria, in southeast Fairfax County.
